As part of the renovation of Hotel Tamarin, Lakaz d’Art was asked to create a strong artistic identity around the themes of beach life, surfing, and the ocean, across more than 100 bedrooms, a dining room, and the garden area.
Lakaz d’Art collaborated closely with the interior designers and developed murals using the “Painting Jam” concept: bringing together groups of artists around one wall, guided by a shared direction while allowing each artist to freely express their creativity.
The project resulted in a series of unique, vibrant, and soulful murals throughout the hotel, including a 4-meter-high artwork, giving each space a distinctive artistic energy connected to the spirit of Tamarin and the ocean.

For the annual music festival La Isla 2068, Lakaz d’Art was invited to create an immersive and futuristic installation that would capture the bold, alternative spirit of the event and engage festival-goers throughout the day and night.
In collaboration with La Isla Social Club, Lakaz d’Art created “The Black Box”: a 9 sqm interactive structure where artists painted futuristic murals outside using UV-reactive paint, while visitors were invited to paint freely on black fabric inside the box.
As night fell, the UV paint came alive under violet lights, transforming The Black Box into a glowing, colorful disco space. What began as a black structure became a shared creative playground, first for children, then for adults, turning the installation into a vibrant collective artwork.

For TEDx PlainesWilhems and its theme “Our World”, Lakaz d’Art was challenged to create an impactful ephemeral gallery inside a large amphitheatre with high ceilings and almost no wall space.
Sponsored by Gamma, Lakaz d’Art transformed scaffolding structures into a circular gallery, displaying 18 artworks by seven different artists. The installation was designed around two layers: “the world we measure” on the outside, and “the world we feel” at the heart of the circle.
The gallery created a powerful contrast between data and emotion. The outer layer presented facts about the world, while the inner layer revealed its soul through art, reminding visitors that numbers alone do not define our world — our feelings and human experiences do.

For the Nou Le Morne Festival, Lakaz d’Art was challenged to create a temporary gallery in the woods of The Green Village at Cocteau Raffin, while celebrating Mauritius’ mixed cultural heritage in a natural setting.
In collaboration with the Nou Le Morne team, Lakaz d’Art designed an open-air gallery as a colourful walk through the forest. The exhibition brought together recycled metal lamps, stone sculptures, paintings, illustrations, photography, and collages.
The gallery became a magical journey between the trees, offering the public an immersive experience where art and nature came together in a poetic celebration of culture, creativity, and heritage.

For one of Hennessy Park Hotel’s famous Backstage parties, Lakaz d’Art was asked to create an artistic and interactive experience around the theme “Monochrome”, while keeping the atmosphere playful, immersive, and memorable.
Lakaz d’Art imagined a full monochrome setting featuring an XXL 3D draughtboard photo booth with vintage televisions, an interactive wall inviting guests to answer “What do I want to do before I die?”, a monochrome gallery showcasing artists from the online platform, and a live painting performance by Nim Jundoosing.
The event became a dynamic artistic playground where guests could take photos, express themselves, discover local artists, and witness a powerful live painting performance, turning the party into a complete creative experience.

Lakaz d’Art was invited to host the launch of Mauritian author Jason Lily’s debut poetry collection, Poem Fertil, and create a meaningful moment around his literary universe.
Lakaz d’Art welcomed the event at its space, offering a warm and artistic setting for the presentation of a poetry collection written in Creole, French, and English, deeply inspired by nature, humanity, and ancestral roots.
The launch became a celebration of poetry and cultural identity, highlighting Jason Lily’s voice and offering the public a rich and diverse portrait of Creole culture.

For ALU Rwanda, Lakaz d’Art was challenged to move beyond the generic African narrative and create artworks that reflected the continent’s diversity, complexity, and shared sense of pride.
Lakaz d’Art used storytelling as the central medium, designing murals that fused traditions, patterns, and colors to express a Pan-African vision. Mauritian artists Andy Leo and Shaun Beyond created the designs, which were then executed in Rwanda by Mashakiro Bienvenue’s talented collective.
The collaboration produced two striking and long-lasting murals on the African Leadership University campus, embodying a creative symbiosis between Mauritius and Rwanda while draping the space with pride, diversity, and togetherness.

For the third edition of La Isla 2068, Lakaz d’Art was challenged to create a striking and interactive artistic installation that would captivate festival-goers, especially children, within the setting of the Labourdonnais garden.For the annual music festival La Isla 2068, Lakaz d’Art was invited to create an immersive and futuristic installation that would capture the bold, alternative spirit of the event and engage festival-goers throughout the day and night.
In collaboration with Russian multimedia artist Vadim Kampel, Lakaz d’Art transformed a majestic tree into an eccentric intergalactic universe, inspired by Rick & Morty, using fluorescent décor, interactive installations, and playful mechanisms such as counterweights and pulleys.
The installation became a magical and immersive experience where children eagerly explored, interacted, and played within the artwork, turning the tree into a bewitched centerpiece that delighted its audience.

Lakaz d’Art was invited to present “Dedans e(s)t Dehors: Home Evasion”, a project reflecting the strange, intimate, and unforgettable experience of lockdown in Mauritius between March and May 2020.
In collaboration with Giovanna Gandus Production, Lakaz d’Art showcased the work of 25 artists based in Mauritius, bringing together 30 winning photographs accompanied by 30 poems to tell the story of 72 days of confinement.
The exhibition offered the public a powerful journey back into an unreal and quirky moment in time, creating a collective memory of lockdown through images, words, and one shared connection: Mauritius.

For the opening of 42 Market Street in Bagatelle, Lakaz d’Art was tasked with creating a large-scale mural for a family-friendly public space that would reflect the spirit of Mauritius in a fun, engaging, and accessible way.
In collaboration with local artists holaitsmelisa and Andydoreo, Lakaz d’Art created a 25-meter-long mural in its signature “Painting Jam” style, transforming Mauritian culinary culture and local expressions such as “Zafer la feu”, “Mone ron”, and “Tamam” into a playful visual story.
Created over the course of 10 days, the mural evolved organically into a unique and vibrant artwork, perfectly suited to the space and offering visitors a joyful, humorous, and distinctly Mauritian experience.

For the first time, Arte Laguna Prize travelled outside Italy, creating the challenge of presenting this renowned international art competition in Mauritius while building a meaningful dialogue between global and local artistic voices.
At Caudan Arts Centre, the exhibition brought together 15 international Arte Laguna Prize finalists and 15 talented Mauritian artists, creating an exciting blend of disciplines, forms, and styles.
The show became a unique cultural encounter between Venice and Mauritius, made possible through the collaboration of Caudan Arts Centre, Basu Foundation for the Arts, The Art Vault, and Lakaz d’Art.

During the pandemic, Lakaz d’Art was invited by the Ministry of Arts and Cultural Heritage to contribute to the development of street art in Mauritius through a public mural project in Goodlands.
Located on the side of Belin Football Stadium, the project allowed the Lakaz d’Art team to freely express its creative diversity, producing 10 separate murals that each brought a different visual energy to the site.
The murals added colour, movement, and positivity to the locality, leaving behind a joyful artistic footprint and strengthening the presence of street art in Mauritius.

African Leadership University entrusted Lakaz d’Art with a new creative project for its Mauritius campus, aiming to transform student social spaces into lively, inspiring, and meaningful environments.
Lakaz d’Art worked closely with the students to create a series of murals: ALC’s motto “DO HARD THINGS” in the university’s signature red, an abstract mural representing the African continent and ALC’s Pan-African vision, and a doodle-inspired monochrome mural reflecting everyday university life.
The murals brought energy, identity, and a strong sense of belonging to the campus, turning shared student spaces into bold visual statements that reflect ALC’s values, ambition, and community spirit.

Ancré au cœur du village de Tamarin, il porte l’authenticité à un autre niveau en s’ouvrant pleinement sur la vie locale, le surf, la musique et l’environnement.
« Dans le futur, les machines domineront la logique et l’Homme la créativité. C’est pour cette raison qu’il faut se donner les moyens de stimuler l’artiste qui sommeille en chacun d’entre nous », Kim Siew, fondateur de Lakaz d’Art.
Lakaz d’Art, inauguré en novembre dernier, est un nouvel espace de créativité à Port Louis, dédié à tous ceux qui veulent partager, apprendre et transmettre l’art sous toutes ses formes : photographie, design, peinture, théâtre, danse et plus encore.
Des bureaux de La Isla, rue la corderie, à Lakaz d’Art, sur les hauteurs de la rue St Georges, c’est une marche d’une quinzaine de minutes à travers le cœur de la capitale. Port-Louis, ville animée de jour et déserte le soir (ritournelle), s’éveille depuis peu à de nouvelles initiatives culturelles. La Isla, Dock 13 (The Third Dot), ICAIO, le Caudan Art Center… Il se trame quelque chose de sympa dans les rues de Port-Louis.
Lakaz d’Art, ouverte depuis octobre 2018, s’ajoute avec panache à cette nouvelle vague artistique. La Isla a rendu visite à Kim Siew, son fondateur, et Aurélia Ritter, la co-directrice. Ils nous dévoilent la démarche et les ambitions de ce grand espace ouvert à tous les artistes.
